About us
NEESCHI is a design firm based in Zermatt, dedicated to the Valais blacknose sheep, or more specifically, its long and highly curled wool. We produce carpets and accessories from this wool in small, specialized manufactories. Respecting this natural resource is fundamental to us and is practiced daily at NEESCHI.
All beginnings…
In 2013, designer Caroline Weder Carrarini founded NEESCHI with the idea of creating products out of the wool of Valais Blacknose sheep. It was not an easy start: wool processing had nearly disappeared in Switzerland. With considerable effort and persistence, Caroline eventually convinced farmers and local production facilities to reinvest in this lost craft. Today, all stages of the process—from collecting the wool to yarn production—are carried out once again in Switzerland.
